Looking for a retreat that feels like you're far away but still close to everything? The Wild Refuge Lodge may be just the spot for you. This secluded rustic lakefront lodge on Green Lake, located on 125 acres of woodlands, offers a beautiful, quiet spot for you to unwind. The large, log home features 6 bedrooms and 4 full baths. Up to 14 guests are welcome. Walk through the front door into a huge living room with sitting area which looks through a two-story wall of glass onto the woods and waterfront. Off the living area are the full kitchen and dining room which also face the lake. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms on each level. Beds include three kings, a double, and six twins. A suspended catwalk spans the two-story living area connecting the second-floor bedrooms. Additional dining area off the kitchen offers a fun space for families to gather.

Outdoors, children can run freely while parents relax with no worries about traffic. Spot deer in the morning and hear owls and loons at night. A porch-side picnic table allows alfresco dining with spectacular views across the water as the sun sets over the Betsie River – a protected national wilderness area. If tennis is your game, then plan to play a set on the Lodge’s private court just across the road which is about 1/2 mile from the lodge. There is also a badminton net set up for some fierce racket fun.

Walk down to the dock for a late-afternoon swim, or – if you’ve brought your own boat – launch it at the public boat access, next to the river just across the water. Green Lake offers clear waters and welcomes boaters and fisherman. Swim in the deep cool waters. Due to the nature of this property, outdoor fires are prohibited.

Renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts, a cultural hub for talent from around the world, is just 10 minutes away. Traverse City – with its annual film festivals and beloved Cherry Festival – is 30 minutes away. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is just 40 minutes away.

Beautiful property, great location. Clean and mostly well maintained. There were several burned out bulbs and bedroom lighting wasn’t very good. . Furnishings and bedding were in great shape. All the butter knives were missing, but the property manager got right on it and left replacements within a couple hours. Minor problems in an otherwise terrific experience.

This property was comfortable and spacious, amenities were as described. We did have a problem with one of the bathrooms leaking into the kitchen when the shower was used. The property manager was responsive and someone was sent to address our concerns. Also had a minor issue with fire alarms going off one day for no apparent reason. All in all it was a pretty nice rental.

Rustic charm with tons of space

We had just 4 people in this enormous house. It's much older than you see in the pictures but very very clean. The kitchen was amazing and the lake, just wow. Clear waters, nice dock. Three of the four bathrooms could use an upgrade, some of the furniture could be upgraded too and the exterior could use a lot of landscaping. Otherwise, we had the best time and are considering this a yearly event!

The lake was clear and amazing, the volleyball net sponsored some very competitive matches and it had enough bathrooms and bedrooms to not cause any additional drama. The rental company even called on a holiday weekend to check on us. could not recommend this rental enough.

This is the second year that our family rented the Wild Refuge Lodge. Green Lake is beautiful, with clear water and the lodge is located close to a boat launch and the river, which is great for kayaking. There was plenty of space for our extended family. The lake views from the house are beautiful. Campfires are not permitted, but the yard provides plenty of seating with great views of the lake. The water is shallow near the shore and gets deeper gradually, perfect for swimming, and the “yard” has beautiful mature trees for the perfect northern feel. Would definitely rent again.

Third Year with family in this facility and our little week together has been fantastic for catching up and generally "fun" as the focus. Traverse City downtown a great rainy one day excursion. THe dock is a great attribute - great launch pad for paddleboards and boating and jump off swimming in a sandy area. This area of the lake is very quiet and and the property secluded - perfect for us.

A Nice Vacation Spot

This large home was the perfect size for our family. Plenty of bedroom and bathroom space. It's located on a beautiful lake and tucked into a private spot in the woods. It's well-equipped with kitchen basics and towels and even has a grand piano (that needs work) for the enjoyment of musical families. The downside is that it was overrun with mice and ants, despite several visits from the exterminator and the additional traps we purchased and set. It's in need of a DEEP cleaning - food crumbs and toys under couch cushions and mouse droppings everywhere. Some of the furniture is past it's expiration date to the point you wouldn't want to sit on cracked and peeling chairs. It's a great option for large families but needs some additional attention to make it truly guest ready. The cleaners were sent for an additional touch-up during the week after we contacted management and we appreciated that.

Spring 2023 - issues with the mice have been addressed and solved we found the area of the home where they were sneaking in and have made repairs and the home did not show any signs of the little rascals even after being closed all winter! The living room furniture has been updated and the bedrooms have new bed linens. The home now has central air as well!

What a fabulous vacation in Interlochen! The setting on beautiful Green Lake was lovely. Lots of space for our multi-generational group. Converted garage was perfect for cards and games, Adirondack chairs outside great for happy hour and all of us loved the dock for hanging out by the water. Bedrooms all equipped with fans for the warmer nights and comfy beds. Kitchen small for our large group but pretty well stocked. Management co. very responsive with a couple of issues that came up. THanks!

A great house on a beautiful lake. Definitely bring your water shoes for the rough shells on the bottom of the lake. Lots of places to hang out and plenty of activities to do at the house. House was well stocked. It was unseasonably warm during our stay, but it was comfortable enough with the fans that were supplied. There was a problem with the screen door that the management company dealt with immediately.

80th B day family getaway

The cabin was very spacious, plenty of room to be together or to be apart if you wish. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean and the kitchen fit our needs for meals for 14 people. there is some updating that could be done for the cost of the rental and the eating utensils were very old and very small but it was not a problem. Two things that would be a must here is some more beach area by the dock and a firepit for campfires. I would recommend the cabin for a group up to 14 people and it is very kid friendly and also pet friendly. I would stay here again if the rental cost was adjusted a bit or some improvements were made.

This is truly a Wild Refuge Lodge. Upon arrival down the long driveway, we were greeted by a deer and her two tiny fawns, so adorable. The lodge was clean, spacious, and not a neighbor in sight. The beach and dock were great for us all, and walking down the shoreline along the preservation was peaceful and wonderful. The rental agency was professional, courteous and attentive. This is a great cabin for families. We went for a fall colors tour with a total of 5 families. The cabin was clean and having everyone in one cabin allows us to cook, eat and talk together. After we saw the crystal clear water, we are thinking about coming up during the summer.

Woods and lake getaway

We loved our time there. The lodge is beautiful. The front view doesn’t do it justice. The back wall of windows looking onto the woods and lake was stunning. Even when the weather was bad, we felt like we were outdoors all the time. The lodge was very comfortable. We had enough room for all of us, with many options to play and eat inside. So many things to do we’re made available, both for inside and out. The bedrooms were comfortable, definitely enough bathrooms as well. We didn’t use the fireplace, but it was beautiful. We wished there was more room to sit on the lakeside, but we had many places to relax looking over the water from above. There is a small walk down to the lake but very accessible and easy. Internet was available, enough to check in with work and home, but probably not gaming. We had some issues, nothing that would be considered a problem with the property, but they were handled quickly and thoroughly by the very responsible management company.

We loved the lodge! Cabin is a bit dated (no central AC and very few ceiling fans), but the size and location made up for it. I would change out the piano and put a larger table with more chairs because everyone loved eating and looking out the huge windows at the lake. We loved the lake and dock. We had to rent kayaks and paddleboard from Alvina's up the creek as the lodge did NOT have any water toys. The adirondack chairs overlooking the water and watching the sunset was a favorite of all. We would definitely rent this property again!

Lodge is spacious and beautiful. It’s very clean and well cared for. Green Lake is a good size and very pretty. Swimmers itch easily held off by using baby oil. Convenient location for groceries etc. Lovely area. Easy access to Traverse City and all it offers. We loved visiting Interlochen Music Center also. Dryer doesn’t work. Very old. Probably needs to be replaced. No AC, probably fine most of the time. 95 and too hot for our week but that’s not the norm I bet.

Our Michigan Retreat

It is a “grand “ older log home retreat. We were there with 8 people and 4 dogs and we had space to be together and apart. The lake was beautiful and really fairly private at that end. We loved the fact that it was so private being situated in the woods down a L—O—N—G gravel drive. Our weather was wonderful, but could see where another fan or two would be helpful with warmer weather. We had golfers and fisherwomen, all were satisfied. We loved our time there.
