Peaceful and perfect describes S'more Fun located in Traverse City on Bass Lake. This home welcomes guests with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The living room has a cozy fireplace and beautiful lake views. The kitchen is fully equipped and "eat in" for morning gatherings. Up the stairs a large family room. A large-screen tv and a pool table provide entertainment, and a queen futon is available. On the lower level are three bedrooms. The lower level is a walk-out basement with 7-foot ceilings. The master bedroom has a king bed and a spacious walk-in shower. The other two bedrooms each have 2 queen beds. The home has central air conditioning, a gas fireplace, and wifi.

Outdoors is a beautiful landscaped space. The waterside features decks and a patio area for the fire pit. There is plenty of outdoor furniture too. A dock and canoe round out the outdoor amenities. Bass Lake is a great spot for fishing too! The yard area is a perfect place to play Bocce ball or croquet. The Game room in the garage includes ping pong and more. Stunning sunrises and starry nights are just some of the highlights to enjoy here.

This area is just out of town but close to everything. Visits to Interlochen/Grawn, Leelanau Peninsula, Old Mission Peninsula, or downtown Traverse City are all easy drives from here. Incredible Mo's Family Fun, grocery shopping, and farm markets are about 10 minutes away.

Check out local wineries, breweries, and specialty cheese shops like "the Cheese Lady". Enjoy fantastic restaurants and food trucks in downtown Traverse City. Visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes, cycle the Heritage Trail, and visit the Cherry Bowl Drive-In for family fun. Things to do in the area are endless. Come and see what all the buzz is about.

We were very happy with the rental location and amenities. Overall, it was a great experience. The cabin we originally booked had an issue arise prior to our arrival and the booking company was able to transfer us to a different cabin within the same area. Communication throughout the process was quick and efficient. However, as someone with allergies I feel it is important to note that there was an excessive amount of dog hair on the furnishings and it was evident that the property had not been deep cleaned (dust, toilet with pee dried onto the seat, etc.) we decided to give the company the benefit of the doubt as this may have been due to the unexpected change of cabins. Would stay again.

This is a lovely home on Bass Lake. The view from the living room is wonderful. We didn't even turn the tv on during our stay. Sitting on the deck for morning coffee was calm and quiet. Lots of wildlife to watch. The bedrooms on the lower level had trouble connecting to wifi. But overall our stay was great!

Bass Lake is a smaller lake with much less boating activity than Silver, Long or Spider Lakes - which makes it ideal for kayaking and fishing. The house is very close to the water but shrubs are beginning to take over the pier. The house is a lovely retreat to bring the family to. I do wish there was a curtain over the bedroom door (which leads to a nice deck) because the morning sun is very bright coming thru the patterned film over the glass in the door. The property management company is amazing - we had no water when we awoke on a Sunday morning - called the emergency number and Jack had a plumber there within the hour. Found the well pump was not working and needed a "well" guy to check it out. On a Sunday? Right. Again, Jack came through and the well pump was replaced, which was a fascinating operation to watch.

House is in a beautiful location, the lake is literally right out the back door and downtown Traverse is only a few minutes drive away. Plenty of space for multiple families though we were just three adult couple celebrating 20 year anniversary’s and our friendships.House is well stocked with all the amenities, was clean, and had plenty of room. One note: not a complaint but the downstairs two bedrooms, hallway and bathroom are not at full height ceilings. Anyone tall is going to walk around down there with hunchback for fear of scrapping their head.

Our first stay in this lovely home that is close to everything you need - downtown Traverse City, restaurants and groceries - IF you decide to leave this great place. Three levels, well laid out, with a large game room on the third level with a 65” tv. You can tell the owners take pride in their vacation home with the upgrades they are doing. Bass Lake is beautiful and quieter than Silver Lake or Spider Lake (both at which we have stayed) - much less boat and jet ski traffic. The fire pit right by the beach area was a perfect way to end the day. We were so glad to find a house that didn’t have a steep decline to the beach area - so much easier when carrying towels, food & kids. The management company was the best we have ever dealt with - very responsive to any question we had - and this was our 8th year to rent a vacation home in Traverse City for 3 wks. We have found the perfect house for our summer vacation in Traverse City.

Perfectly located Lakehouse

I will start by saying our week vacation spent on Bass Lake was amazing! The lake was perfect for swimming, kayaking, and canoeing, which we did each of these daily. There is a nice little sandbar which we could swim to as well. I just wish the house had one additional kayak! Each night we enjoyed a nice fire, listened to the sounds on the lake and looking up at the stars. The house had a perfect layout and space which accommodated our family and dogs perfectly! The covered porch was amazing to sit on especially in the morning or when storms rolled in (thankfully we didn’t have much rain!). The location of the house was fantastic in proximity to Downtown Traverse City, Suttons Bay, and the Costco, Sams, Meijer and Target.A few negatives though included the leaking pea trap in the laundry room and in the kitchen it sounded like the dishwasher was constantly running. These pipes were in our bedroom so we had some background noise while sleeping. We did call but they said they were unable to bring someone out to have it fixed (understandable to find maintenance people but didn’t make it any less annoying!). We also wanted to try playing the WII one afternoon and it was broken! We replaced the controller batteries and tried a few things with no luck! Again this wasn’t a deal breaker just a slight disappointment. The garage was a great space with the ping pong and additional games, thankfully we didn’t have to use this much because of the near perfect weather! I did notice they also had 2 nice bikes with helmets but we didn’t utilize these. The pool table inside is in okay condition but didn’t have sticks that were usable, again thankfully we didn’t need inside entertainment. Overall minus the few issues it was a fantastic stay, beautiful family friendly property and we would go again!

Overall we had a great stay ! We had stayed here in 2015 so had that visit to compare this one to. While the home was clean and comfortable, there were several minor issues with the home. Such as a loose toilet (master bedroom), loose faucet (master bedroom), malfunctioning microwave, loose floor tiles (master bedroom), difficult to use TV services. We also had to deal with a controversy with the neighbor over “boats”. Someone used his Peddle boat and his row boat ... he was not a happy camper...

Highly recommend this large, comfortable lake house. Great for big kids and little kids. All the amenities you might need for a week on the lake Up North. Beds were great. Loved having 3 bathrooms. Very convenient to have laundry available. Wonderfully private lakefront - loved how quiet the lake was with very few motor boats. The lily pads were a beautiful surprise. Firepit received a lot of use. Worked out perfectly for our 3 generations of family for a week. We were all sad when vacation came to an end.

Absolutely stunning view of Bass Lake. We really enjoyed the paddle boat and kayaking on the lake. Close enough to TC to enjoy, but still private feeling. Only downside to the house are the very low ceilings. I’m only 5’4” and couldn’t extend my arms to stretch without hitting the bedroom ceiling. The master was a little higher ceiling, but if you’re tall you may want another rental. My 6’4” dad was not able to walk on the bedroom level without ducking.

Overall a great stay. Unfortunately weather did not cooperate. When we arrived the handle on the freezer was broken. There was dog hair on the rugs, i do know it is pet friendly. Master toilet paper holder is poorly installed so toilet paper kept falling off. Those are all minor things and easily fixed, none of them would prevent me from renting again.

There was stuff in the sink strainers, we found dust bunnies all around, spills on the stove, a hair clip on the floor in one of the bedrooms and a packet of sleeping pills by the nightstand and hair in the shower drain in the large bedroom.Also the access to TV left much to be desired. That all said we really enjoyed the house and the location and all the water toys

The S'more Fun Bass Lake house is just what we hoped for. It was very clean and met our needs well. We loved the decor and SO many fun things to do - both in the house (games, rec) and on the lake (canoe, kayak, paddleboat). The lake was quiet and fun to explore.Our only complaint is the step down into the kitchen which has no "warning" sign. Our 89-year-old mother fell down it within the first 5 minutes in the house, and several of us tripped up it until we were all used to it. The tile pattern in the kitchen and going from wood to tile really hides the fact that you have to step down. Recommend putting up a sign to watch your step! Also, recommend installing a handrail on that open stairway going to the rec room. One person in our family fell coming down it. Can't believe that is up to code?! But other than that and needing a few more kitchen towels, everything was perfect. Thank you for sharing your home.

Up North Vacation Rental staff were the best. They made the stay here seamless. The house was in pristine condition and afforded the entire family room to rest and relax. This particular house was a stone's throw away from Traverse City, Sleepy Bear Dunes Park, Sutton Bay and all the other small towns that make this area surreal. I would highly recommend renting from Up North as the staff is most professional on all levels. I would highly recommend renting from this service....you will not be disappointed.

Great week on bass lake!

We had a great time during our stay. We lived the view and the kids really enjoyed the sand and water. The tubes, paddle boat and especially the kayak were a big hit! On the down side,. We could have used more silverware, and were a little nervous with the open stairway going upstairs and no front on the fireplace. The home fit our family perfectly. The location was great. Very peaceful. We will be back!!

The description was accurate Location was Perfect. We love the back with the beach, Fire pit for s’mores, canoe and kayak The property was clean and well-maintained and had just about everything. The only negative was we went food shopping and ready to grill on the grill , The property was clean and well-maintained and had just about everything. The only negative was we went food shopping and ready to grill and there was no gas in the tank. I called the company and was told it did not come with the gas I would have to buy my own. I couldn’t imagine making a renter take that tank into town and fill it up and leave it for all the other people to use don’t think you should Advertise a grill.There was something for all ages. My first experience doing this and I will have great memories forever.

Great. Bass Lake is not for everyone. Although the water is warm, the lake is murky and filled with lily pads. My kids still played in their, but by the end of the week, they had enough of the murkiness. The view is great though and it is very peaceful in the morning and night. The house had a spacious game room where our family hung out at to relax.

We found S'more Fun to be the perfect rental for our family reunion and 50th wedding anniversary celebration. It was a perfect "home base" for exploring the Traverse City, and Sleeping Bear Dunes area. And close to so many of our favorite restaurants - Sleder's, Moomers, and downtown venues. We also took advantage of the lake, and The Crown Golf Club while we were there. The maintenance company came out quickly to rid us of the bee's nest we found the first night. For the most part, everything was very good. We made good use of the paddle boat and kayak, the campfire pit, and the grill (after we cleaned it so both burners worked. All in all, it was a very enjoyable time. We were happy to know there was a washer and dryer, but disappointed that the dryer heating element didn't work properly. (It took me 3 hours to dry 5 beach towels!) We were told there were ceiling fans in every room. Not the case. There are no fans in the bedrooms. Had we known, we certainly would have brought some along.

Perfect Summer Home

We really enjoyed our stay at S'more Fun on Bass Lake. It was incredibly clean, comfortable and close to everything we wanted to do (wineries, Sleeping Bear Dunes, shopping, fishing, etc.). The lake was simply gorgeous. It was wonderful to just stay home and grill out - terrific kitchen and lots of space. We defiantly will consider returning.

Great house for a gathering of friends and family! Very spacious and well stocked for the weekend. Had some issues with some broken things but they were taken care of in a timely manner. It does get a little chilly in the bedrooms in the basement, but space heaters are provided. Awesome location- quiet and beautiful. Hopefully we will be back sometime soon!

We stayed at S'more Fun (Also known as the Tackle Box) on Bass Lake in February of 2018. Overall, we really liked the house as it had tons of space and a lot of nice little touches. We really liked the gas fireplace, pool table, easy WiFi access, heated floors(!), great view of the lake, and overall cleanliness of the property. The house is also at the end of the county road so it's nice and quiet. My fiancee described it as a little "scary" but frankly I thought it was very serene. There were very few negatives and they were mostly minor, but here goes: None of the dishes seemed particularly clean, and unfortunately the dishwasher has seen better days. The dish racks were rusted through in several places and the dishwasher itself was making some serious grinding noises when we tried to run it, so we just decided to wash everything by hand. We also noticed that the hot water was not incredibly hot in the master bath for whatever reason, but seemed perfectly fine elsewhere in the house. Some of the technology is a little outdated in spots, but its hard to complain about having a TV in almost every room. We actually went to the video store and rented a few DVD's since the TV upstairs didn't have any HDMI ports for our Roku. Overall we really liked the place and will definitely come back if its available the next time we come up to Traverse City.

We are glad you liked the S'mores Fun, hope you come back soon. The dishwasher has been replaced as of March 1, 2018. (No more washing by hand!) We did move one of the newer TV's into the living room and that is compatible with Roku sticks so if you decide to come back it will be ready for you! As of late April 2018 a additional new TV will be added. There are currently 3 TVs at Smore Fun.

Wonderful home. Home is 4 levels. Bedrooms are on lower 2 walkout levels. There was heated floors which would have made rental wonderful, however they weren't working except in the master bath. Bedrooms were un-acceptably cold. Contacted Visit Up North and was advised that upper forced air registers needed to be closed for the lower areas to warm, per the property owner. After doing that warmth was not adequate, so we went to Menard's and bought electric space heaters and that resolved it. Snow was supposed to be plowed over 3in and that wasn't really kept up with. Snow was plowed once during our 5 day stay even though it snowed every day. I believe we got about 18in while we were there and the property is below street level. Have 4 wheel drive and never had a problem, when we left there was 8-10in on the ground and was concerned about getting up driveway but we made it. I shoveled quite a bit. There was 1 shovel and a second one would be helpful to speed that process up as the plow service when they do come, don't do walkway to vehicles. All in all it was a great rental with the above mentioned exceptions. I would not recommend rental to older persons or those with disabilities, at least in winter months.

When speaking during our courtesy call the day after check-in, we did offer to send an employee to troubleshoot the heated floors and were told you did not want your stay disturbed. We are sorry that they were not functioning and would have been happy to have helped (but it would have required someone coming to the home). During the winter storm between Dec. 29 and 31, many roads were closed as well as Sherrif's departments requesting people stay off the roads except for emergencies. This put our plow trucks a little behind and we are sorry for the inconvenience. The snow really came fast and furious during a short time! We hope you'll be able to return to the home and we appreciate your feedback in order to improve our services.
