There is nothing like spending time on Big Glen Lake in Glen Arbor! Orchard Oaks Cottage sits back from the road on a huge treed lot, making it an ideal location for children. This quaint, chalet-style home with a vintage vibe has 3-bedrooms and 1.5-baths. There are two bedrooms on the main level and one on the upper level, and the loft area has a twin bed. An abundance of windows let in the great views and sunshine.
This home has a large wrap-around deck and a screened porch. The water is across the street but has easy access to the lakefront, plus a dock. No outdoor fires are permitted.
It is an easy drive to Glen Arbor for shopping, dining, and other fun local activities. Canoes and bicycles can be rented right in town. The Sleeping Bear Dunes and Lake Michigan are just minutes away. The home is 30 minutes from Traverse City.
Dogs allowed.

The property was located in a great location to Glen Arbor. We had good weather and were able to fully enjoy the dock area which is directly across the street. For those boating, the mooring system is was inspected and it is clearly new or at least has been updated. The check out process was very easy too.

We loved the cozy feeling of this place. It was so nice to look out into the trees -safe from the raindrops. It suited our needs perfectly. We didn't have the weather to enjoy the water but the views were nice and our stay was very pleasant.

We want to thank the owner(s) for their graciousness. This was our third stay at Orchard Oaks. It is located right on M22, a short distance from downtown Glen Arbor. Driving through the narrows on a sunny day & frolicking in Big Glen with our dogs never fails to disappoint. We watched a number of beautiful sunrises from the living room. The extra half bath is a bonus most rentals lack. If you are looking to enjoy both Glen Arbor & Big Glen, this is the place for you.

Home was perfect. Kids loved having direct access to the lake and never wanted to leave the water. Crossing the street for the lake access was without issue. The house only came with three fans and we were very glad to have brought our own.

The house was as described. No real surprises. Price was quite high for a weekend trip. The furniture all needs to be updated, but the main bathroom was really nice. Good location, approximately 1.5 miles from downtown Glen Arbor. I'll probably look to stay elsewhere next time.

Could not have been any easier to unwind. Plenty of space for 2 families with 4 kids 7-13 and a dog.We spent our mornings and late afternoons on the dock and our evenings on the deck after grilling dinner and taking advantage of the easy to get to hikes and exploring Glen Arbors laid back scene. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Didn't see or hear neighbors - which was perfect. Fully intend to book the same property again next year. Highly recommend this gem. Thanks!

We have been vacationing annually in the Glen Arbor area for over ten years & Orchard Oaks is one of our favorite pet friendly places to stay. Located right on M-22, it is dog walking distance to downtown. We really enjoyed teaching our lab to dock dive into Big Glen. The beds were comfortable, which is not something we can say about most of the properties we have rented. However, it was definitely owner's cottage, not their house--meaning it is rustic. We would rent this property again & recommend it to others.

The rental was the perfect location for anyone wanting to be on Glen Lake. The dock is amazing and the depth of the water is perfect for the boat. A mooring device was provided and sufficient. Orchard Oaks is one of the most beautiful locations on the lake!The rental itself had a “cabin like” feel giving it a true up north feel. Those with allergies may want to look elsewhere as a few of us ended up with our allergy symptoms acting up when in the home for long periods of time and then subsiding when out of the home for a period of time. When the weather is warm, you want to bring fans as there are very few provided that worked well. Although there is no air conditioning, the heat was very tolerable with appropriate fans running. We had an excellent time and we were able to share the experience with two well behaved dogs which is always a plus!

We loved this spot! Super cozy, comfortable and clean! What else do ya need! Our only issue was with one of the heating vents not working, but there was enough around the house to warm entire home without it. Also, would have loved for the fireplace to have been working. Other than that we had a wonderful time together in a gorgeous spot close to town yet nestled in the woods!

Cottage review We enjoyed our stay at Orchard Oaks cottage. The photos in this listing are fairly representative of the property, particularly the indoor photos. But one important feature that is not clear in the listing or the pictures is that the cottage is very close to the road. Although there is a lovely large deck on the front of the cottage it’s hard to enjoy time there because of the traffic, which is both visually & audibly distracting. However, there is easy lake access across the street (& the lake is gorgeous) with a long dock & a small deck. That area is much better suited for an outdoor hang out than any space by the cottage. It is worth noting that the shoreline is grassy (not sandy) and the lakebed is rocky at the shoreline. But the dock reaches far enough out into the lake for sandy bottom access.Pros-Clean-Comfortable beds -Loft space is particularly inviting for kids/teenagers.-Conveniently located to area attractions.Cons-Proximity to the road.-Kitchen is small but fridge and stove are full-size and modern.-The only seating for dining is an exterior screened porch. A little quirky but fine for summer weather.-No fire pit (fireplace doesn’t work either but not an issue for summer visitors).

The home was exactly as described; no surprises! It was clean, great location, and the water had easier access than I expected. We easily slid two kayaks down to the water, and carried them back up, without any problems. All in all, a perfect trip! Our dogs enjoyed it too!

We wanted a few days of R & R up north. This is our second rental through you. The house near Glen Arbor provided a great location for our local day trips. The house was inviting and dog friendly, just enough property for them. Since it's across the street from the lake (with access) and the dock was out of the water, I don't know how it would be as a summer rental. But for our fall getaway, it was great.

This rustic home worked well for us - four adults, a toddler and a baby along with two dogs. The location is excellent - Glen Arbor just up the road and it is very close to Sleeping Bears Dune. Access to the water is across the road and down a steep set of stairs. There is no beach but a very long stretch of shallow water. It was a bit too cool for swimming but our dogs enjoyed the water very much. The house sets back from the road so that was also good for our dogs. The house and bedrooms are quite small. The eating area is in a screened in porch which works when the weather is warm but was a bit chilly at times. The mattresses were not wonderful and a working vacuum cleaner and dryer (there is a washer) would have gone a long way to making our week more pleasant. This is our first rental in Michigan but we have rented homes in other states so it's hard to know if the cost was reasonable.
