Here's a charmer right in the heart of Suttons Bay! Walk to everything the village has to offer. This rental has one bedroom and one bathroom. It is a second-floor apartment with a large deck that faces east. There are 15 outdoor steps to the apartment. Sleeps up to 3. The owner will consider weekly or short stays during any season.
There is one Queen bed in the bedroom plus an air mattress. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a dishwasher. A washer/dryer is available. The living room has a large-screen TV with cable/DVD. This charming getaway will feel like home, conveniently located across from the beach and marina. Walk next door to one of the great restaurants with outdoor dining. Head to the vintage Bay Theater for a late-night movie. No driving is required in town while staying at this comfortable unit. Enjoy the Suttons Bay Art Fair, Blues Festival, and more from this location. Wineries are just minutes away.
Need more space? Rent the "Front Cottage" on the lower level, which sleeps 6. Also available is "Sweet Cherry" which can sleep up to 3 nestled at the back of the property. This home has central air.

This clean and comfortable 1BR is located in downtown Suttons Bay. It offers beautiful sunrises from a lovely bay view and is walking distance to everything in town. The bed was very comfy and the kitchen fairly well equipped. Music from the patio restaurant next door was a little noisy but if you want solitude, don't rent in town. Don't miss Chimoski's Bakery just down the street.

Once you get past hauling your luggage upstairs, a roomy, comfortable unit awaits. View of Suttons Bay makes the stairs worth navigating. Location is a short walk to most of the shops and restaurants in Sutton's Bay, making driving optional for exploring the town. In-unit washer/dryer allows for lighter packing if you are up for a load of laundry mid-week :-)

We enjoyed our week-long stay in the Upper Cottage. It's bright and comfortable, with a nice view of the public beach and the water of the bay. We could step out the door for dinner, a stroll, or an ice cream. Great home base for day trips to the beaches and dunes, Leland, Glen Arbor, Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey, and the Peninsula. So many good places to eat that we never cooked, but the kitchen was nice and seemed well equipped.

Loved the location and proximity to the Marina. Improvements could be made in cleanliness of the bathroom as a well as the slow draining sink.The toilet needed scouring and a smelly plunger was left in there uncovered. The coffee pot needs to be cleaned or replaced as it takes about 20min to finish perculating. The property managers were awesome.

Little Legal Beagle is the perfect place for us. We have stayed here many times. Ideal location if you enjoy being in the heart of Suttons Bay. You will hear music and conversations from the restaurant next door, traffic on the road and people staying below you but it all adds to the atmosphere. The cottage was clean and well stocked. We also appreciated the new patio furniture.

Good location for cycling the Tart Trail to Traverse City 33 miles round trip. North Country restaurant & bar and street traffic Noise can be Overwhelming. Restaurants, movie theater, ice cream shop all within walking distance.

Fantastic location in the heart of Sutton’s Bay. Every restaurant is within walking distance, less one sandwich shop. Ditto the shopping, beach, marina, library, movie theater, coffee shops, book store, bakery, farmer’s market, TART (biking/walking) trail access, ice cream...Nearby, although better by vehicle (or bike), is Hansen’s - a great little grocery store, HopLot Brewing, a laundromat, and etc.! SB is a great little village with much to offer and the Little Legal Beagle is situated in the heart of it all. The “drawbacks”, and mostly contingent upon timing, would be neighbors. The downstairs neighbors had 3 young (loud) boys; the neighboring restaurant, North Country, featured musicians a couple of nights that ran a little late. Parking can be tight, although on-street parking is (mostly) available, as is parking behind the building. The deck furniture wasn’t overly-inviting with some lichen/moss growing on it. Also, and my own fault, was the lack of appreciating entry was by way of stairs, only, as the unit was on the second floor. Those repping the property (UpNorth Vaca Rentals) were very proactive initiating each step of the rental, check-in, and check-out process; ditto the cleaning lady, Karen, who was most kind and conscientious when we stumbled upon her.

The rooms were clean and in good shape.You needed a step ladder to get into the bed.The kitchen faucet had been leaking for a long time, very bad shape needs a new one.The bushes around the whole building needed some severe trimming.I would go back again,if these issues were corrected.Rick Wieber

We have spent a week in this rental for about 15 years. We love the location right in the heart of Suttons Bay. Lets you feel like a local for a week! It is exactly as advertised, and Visit Up North is very professional and easy to work with. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to clean the deck furniture. We spend so much time enjoying the deck but always need to clean everything first.

This place super cute, very clean and spacious. The pictures do not do it justice. The location is perfect and a great view of the water. There is a nice deck to sit on and look at the water. The bed is so comfortable and is very high which we loved. The air conditioning kept it really cool. If I had anything negative if would be that the WiFi doesn’t work very well in the bedroom and the parking can be a tight squeeze. We just stopped using the driveway and parked in the lot behind the house. It was only a little further to walk but an easier in and out. You can easily walk to town or the beach and there is a restaurant right across the street. I can’t recommend this place enough.

We always enjoy our stay at Little Legal Beagle. It is in a perfect location right in the heart of Suttons Bay. All of the action in the village is at your fingertips. You do have another larger cottage rental below you, so you do cross your fingers that they are considerate renters. We find the cottage to be equipped with everything we need during our stay. We have always found Up North Vacations to be wonderful to work with.

We had a great time. The condo is very centrally located. The view from the deck is the best! Right across the street is the public beach. You can walk to all of the shops, restaurants, and the lake. If you have a bike, you are very close to the bike trail.

Located on the main road going through town easy walk to shops,restaurant and beach. Upper level deck in back with views of the bay and marina. Open living room and full kitchen with wall is entirely glass patio and windows, allowing wonderful light and view of bay.CharmingPrevious reviews gave negative on sofa, however it must have been replaced because sofa was in great shape and comfy! Bed was comfy as well. It sits high from floor. Might be an issue for some. We had no problem. Roomy closet. Patio had grill and furniture. Will definitely come here again.

This is the 2nd time my wife and I stayed here at the Upper Cottage in the Little Legal Beagle. Just as before we loved our stay! We packed a premade eggplant parmesan from our garden goodies back home and enjoyed the home cooking for the next couple nights over some wine. That alone helped save more money on this trip than had we stayed at a hotel and dined out every night.It's located right in Sutton's Bay so you're walking distance to restaurants and other attractions as well as a short distance drive to most of the wineries on Leelanau Peninsula.

Another bonus were the numerous wineries in the area. A must visit is the French Valley Winery, and Fishtown. (Only a few minutes away)

We have rented this cottage many times. We had been noticing some areas that needed improvements and expressed our concerns. We were happy to see that several improvements had been made since last summer and that was appreciated. We had an issue with a clogged drain in the bathroom, and Visit Up North dealt with that issue within a couple of hours. Visit Up North is always very easy to work with. We enjoy renting through them. As there are 3 rentals on this property, the garbage can fills up very quickly. I think the owner needs to invest in an additional container for his properties. All in all, Little Legal Beagle is a fun place to stay.

Overall this cottage was wonderful. It was clean,nicely decorated, comfortable bed,very accommodating. The rooms in this unit are big, especially the kitchen and bathroom. The location was very integral in visiting all Leelanau Penninsula has to offer. Suttons Bay is so charming. We could walk to shops,beach very easily. The bedroom windows face the main street which is M22, and gets a lot of noisy traffic early in morning. This cottage was advertised as having wifi. We couldn't connect to the wifi. Called management, they said since wifi located on main floor, wifi can't reach to 2nd floor. Then it shouldn't be advertised that way. Also the TV in bedroom worked 1st day, but then it stated having a weak signal. Management didn't have a solution for us. Well, they should have. We loved this cottage, it's location and its charm.

My goldendoodle and I had an amazing time at this property! Location is perfect for walks into town for morning coffee, meals, shopping as well as across from the public beach area. Property itself was very clean and exactly as described. Rental company was very friendly and professional - while the property did not lose power, there was a power outage in the area and they called to check whether I was experiencing any impacts. I had stayed at this coral shutters property before and would recommend either to anyone and look forward to returning in the future!

I love Suttons Bay and this location is central in it. Walk downtown, to eat, to the beach. Definitely a good space for two to maybe three people. Bar downstairs (and next door) that we didn't get a chance to get to looked fun. Outdoor area. Place is super cute. Clean. Great location. View of water. Exactly as pictured. I will be back. I wish I could have a place like this of my own, quite frankly. It's perfect.

We have been as far Traverse City but never beyond. Beautiful in the fall and would like to come back in the summer to enjoy the water. House on second floor as perfect for just the two of us and the view over the bay (across the street) was gorgeous. Only issue is the house is on M22 which is the main street and the bedroom faced the road. Kind of noisy in the fall and might be crazier in the summer. Still worth giving it a try in the warmer weather.

Stayed here for 3 nights for a romantic wine tasting getaway and were pleasantly surprised at both the size and the cozy feel of the place. We stayed in to cook each night in lieu of dining out and the kitchen provided everything we needed to make our meals and enjoy or stay. Thanks a ton!

We loved our stay at the Legal Beagle apartment in beautiful Suttons Bay. Above all, during this period of Covid-19, the apartment was very clean. We felt safe in the apartment. There were just a few drawbacks. First, the apartment has no internet service. I have rented many short term properties, and this was the first one with no internet. In addition the outdoor furniture on the deck was dirty when we arrived. The chairs were stacked up but were not usable because they needed a good power washing. The outdoor grill was unusable. For us, these were not major issues and really didn't prevent us from enjoying our stay in northern Michigan.

Then rental property is called the legal beagle and the term is used loosely. due to the fact of dog hair on the furniture and on the bed sheets, and not a lot just enough for my wife to use a t shirt on her pillow. The house was clean other than that. This is a great location for Suttons bay and very close to several winery's. I will most likely rent again.

We have stayed in the Legal Beagle-Upper Level on numerous occasions and have always enjoyed our visits. We love that we have a view of the bay and are located in the heart of the Village. The apt. was very clean and all appliances were in working order. The kitchen necessities are well supplied. I always make a nice meal for friends we have in the area and it is so nice to be able to set a pretty table with all matching tableware. The bed was very comfortable however, it might be time to replace the lumpy comforter. We have been coming for a number of years now and it has seen its limits in washings. Hangers are needed in the closet. We come in the shoulder season and pack for both warm and cool weather so there is no room in our suit cases to carry things like hangers. On the plus side there is plenty of closet space and storage available. We love the fact that it is pet friendly. Kudos to the house keepers for no lingering pet odors from preceding visitors.

We spent three nights at the Upper Cottage and would come here again. The location is perfect as it’s only a few blocks from all the restaurants and shops in Sutton’s Bay. We also used it as a home base to visit all the wineries and the lighthouse. It was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable as well.

All in all, Little Legal Beagle ("Upper Cottage") was very nice and met our needs perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised that it is much larger in real life than the photos depict. The cottage was clean, however, the picnic table on the deck really needed a scrub. We cleaned it as well as the grill prior to use. Please remind the cleaning crew that the table top should be cleaned as well as the inside of the home. We had one hiccup from the get-go. We were unable to get into the cottage. The key for the deadbolt worked, however, the key for the main lock did not turn in the lock. We had 2 conversations with the office and after we reiterated that we absolutely could not get into the cottage, a person was dispatched to get us in. She arrived and after several unsuccessful attempts and a little WD-40 the key worked. She mentioned that this had been a problem during the previous week. We stated that we did not want to encounter this problem during the duration and would only be using the deadbolt. One other item that should be standard with all rentals is more than 1 dishtowel. We had 2 dishcloths, but only 1 towel. We picked another up in town. Please note that this rental is located on busy M-22. The road noise in the morning will wake you up since the bedroom is located at that side the house. We slept with the windows open, but needed to close them in the morning around 6a.m. Other travelers mentioned the noise from the restaurant next door, but we did not find it annoying at all, and we spent long hours on the deck enjoying the evening. I would stay again.

This is the second time we rented with Visit Up North and we were very happy with their attention to detail, helpfulness and knowledge of the area. Little Legal Beagle was perfect for us. The unit had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the morning and evening, watching boats on the water.Sutton's Bay is a wonderful small town with a great downtown area. This house is within walking distance to everything in the town and on the bike trail that goes to Traverse City. We love the independent shops and restaurants and Hop Lot is a great brewery in the community. Sutton's Bay Bike is a great place to rent bicycles, paddle boards, canoes and kayaks and the staff is very helpful. Love everything about the town and surrounding area. We'll we up there again and will look to stay here again.

I rented Little Legal Beagle for my husband and his brother who were in the area on business. They said it was clean, had a well equipped kitchen and comfortable furniture. My husband slept in the bedroom and said the bed was the most comfortable bed he ever slept in. (Have to find out the brand!) His brother slept in the living room as he likes to watch TV at night. For dinner, they just walked next door to North Country the first night, and drove down to Hop Lot the 2nd night. Very convenient. Nice place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay in the small town of Suttons Bay. The location to a beach, marina, shopping, entertainment was excellent. We enjoyed Traverse City, renting a pontoon on Lake Leelanau, lunching in Leland, exploring The Fish Town of Leland, wineries, biking, all that is when near water. A beautiful area with not the huge traffic jams!The unit was perfect. Had a washer and dryer. Plenty of nice towels to use. The only suggestion would be to better clean the baseboards in the unit...and definitely clean the patio table which was quite dirty and rusty underneath the glass area...We would return and rent the unit again!

We loved our stay at the upper cottage. The size was perfect, everything was well kept up, and the location was perfect. We were right in town so there was always something to do. With the windows open we could see the beach right in front of us, and we were right next to the ice cream shop and a bar which was fun for our evenings too! Upper Cottage was ideal for our stay. It's location is convenient with restaurants and other amenities in walking distance. The kitchen was fully stocked and the bedroom comfortable. Would have liked for shampoo to have been provided. Also important for some form of humidifier for cold weather months. The air in the unit was VERY dry from the forced air furnace and made mornings after a night sleep not as pleasant as could have been. Otherwise a great experience.

Basically downtown Suttons Bay--walking distance to beach, restaurants and shops. The unit is clean and generally well kept. I did notice a large hole in the wall under the kitchen sink with some shredded paper indicating there might be rodents. It's probably an easy fix, but clearly an oversight. Not sure I agree about having the dishes put back after cleaning them especially if you have an early morning departure like we did. In the end, I would stay here again.

My wife and I spent a week at the Legal Beagle, a second floor apartment about a half block from the bay itself. It had a nice front deck which afforded a great view of the bay. However they are building a new town hall, which may interfere with the view in the future. The apartment itself was great. It is a one bedroom and was much larger than we expected from the description. All amenities, including A/C, dishwasher and even a washer and dryer, which we took good advantage of. We loved the apartment. It appears to me to be part of a three rental complex that might work for a small family reunion. Below us was a 3/1 apartment on the ground floor. Very nice but slightly more cramped than ours to fit all 3 BRs. Next to and in front of us was a large studio rental. All appeared to be managed by the same people. The only problem we had was the internet which was described to us as “spotty”. Spotty is a very charitable term for the internet. It was actually pretty much non-existent. Luckily the library was very close and we could (barely) hit it from the front deck. Their system is completely open, though. Since I teach a number of graduate courses using a Distance Learning format, the lack of a reliable internet caused a significant problem for me. If you are not a heavy internet user this should not be too much of a issue, but if you are like me, it could be a problem. One other item to note is that the cellular system in that area appears to be only AT&T (at least that is what showed up on my phone) and I very quickly reached my free data roaming limit on my T-Mobile phone.All that having been said, I would rent the Legal Beagle again in a heartbeat, and plan to spend a lot of time either at the library or at the coffee shop down the block.

Headed up north for the color change and had the opportunity to stay in the legal begal. What a great place. Wonderful view of the park and lake. Right next door to a great restaurant, as well as across the street from a great breakfast place. Right in downtown sutton's bay. Can't wait to come back again.

We have stayed here twice this fall and each time was wonderful! I hope we can stay here again before the snow flies! Suttons Bay is such a lovely community and such a lovely, peaceful place to stay. This place is only a short walk away from the wonderful shops and restaurants!

This was such an amazing place to stay. The staff from Up North vacation Rental agency were so helpful and friendly from the beginning of the planning. We were awe struck by the sunrise view every morning from the deck. The cottage was very clean and fully stocked with every thing we would need and more. We were able to get in some shopping in the local boutiques and managed to snag some very unique finds for our home in Alma, Michigan.We will always treasure the experience and our stay at the Little Legal Beagle cottage in Sutton's Bay. Great Vacation Location

We very much enjoyed the location to the rest of beautiful Leelanua county and the close proxsimity to Traverse City. The village of Suttons Bay has wonderful resturants and shops. Are rental was wonderful except that the living room tv did not work. We enjoyed the view of the bay and yet we could also be in the heart of the town. We are hoping to return next year for 2 weeks.
