Located in the heart of Suttons Bay, Front Cottage is a vintage-style lower-level house with three bedrooms and one bathroom.

Enter from the street side into a charming living room with nice decorative touches. There are hardwood floors throughout. It has a gas fireplace, air conditioning, and a washer and dryer. The bedrooms have one queen bed, one full bed, and a daybed.

A gorgeous beach is just around the corner–a very easy walk. In fact, all of Sutton's Bay is easily walkable. Check out the unique shops and restaurants! The library just behind the cottage offers free WiFi, and the Leelanau Trail, farm markets, and wineries are all close by. There is plenty to do in town or within a short drive in any direction.

Great location in Suttons Bay

This 2-bedroom rental was in a great location, just north of downtown Suttons Bay. It was still walkable to all of the restaurants. The only drawback was that in the front bedroom, the traffic was loud in the mornings. Also, there was a restaurant right next door and you could hear people talking and their music. Luckily, it closed at 8 pm. The house was very clean and well maintained. In fact, management called and asked if they could come and fix the oven door that the previous tenants noted was loose. The kitchen, living room and bedrooms were spacious. The kitchen was well stocked, even though we did not do any cooking. We were able to visit many wineries from this location. It was nice to be outside of Traverse City, even though it was only 20 miles away. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to go wine tasting and have restaurants within walking distance.

We have stayed near this location in Suttons Bay several times. It has a great location, walkable to downtown Suttons Bay shopping, restaurants, bars, movie theater. The beach is located a couple hundred yards and the library located behind the property. Road noise and the bar/restaurant with could be noisy after dark. Parking was good.

Great Location, funky little cottage but know what you rent

We love Sutton's Bay and this location is hard to beat. Rather than a cottage, it is an older house split with the "Green Shutter" cottage being the downstairs of an older home. You can hear the tenants upstairs as well as smell their dinner. My husband and I had plenty of room but would not book again. There is one very small, funky bathroom off the kitchen with a stackable laundry set up. The cottage only had one closet in a side room with a twin bed which had some older carpeting that was smelly to me but I smell everything. I believe, the bedrooms are actually a former sun porch which are very spacious and cute but have no closets. The kitchen and living/family area are perfect. Bed was good. We stripped the bed upon checkout and the mattress cover was old, stained or dirty.

It did take a while to get the place warmed up when we got there but then it is winter and it is Michigan. Cute cottage and beautiful area, no matter the time of year. Recommend.

We were staying for the purpose of visiting Hop Lot and using Suttons Bay Bikes for a wine tour. The cottage was a great location to walk to both of these places- there is easy access to walk to all of downtown Suttons Bay.

The place was clean, convenient and best of all had central AC! (it was in the 90's while we were there)We were there for my daughter's wedding and there were about 20 people in four different houses. Our had a large kitchen and living area and was comfortable enough to host dinner for everyone two nights during the week. Out the back yard and across the street was a public beach with playground and picnic area. I would surely rent again if I ever come back.

This was our third stay in this rental. It's the perfect location for us. The place was clean and is very nice for a couple. The only "problem" is the streetside parking. It's next door to a popular restuarnt and it's easy to lose your parking spot if you come home during prime dining hours.

Perfect for a Sisters Rendezvous

My three sisters and I could not have asked for a nicer cottage in which to spend our 2021 Rendezvous. It really felt like spending time at a friend's summer place. We enjoyed morning coffee in front of the gas fireplace and evening wine on the front porch as we watched the quiet community go by. This cottage is very well appointed with everything we could have wanted (except, perhaps a lamp in the double bedroom). The location is really convenient for enjoying all that the Leenanau Peninsula has to offer and downtown Suttons Bay is just a short walk away. Hoping to have an excuse to rent Green Shutter Cottage again.

Our Green Shutter Vacation

We Thoroughly loved our cottage. Found everything clean and pleasant. There was a little confussion about the trash pickup, as there was only one receptackle for three unit cottages. When we arrived on Saturday, we couldn't find the trash can, found it on the pick up street where people from the beach were using it. I had dirty diapers and cans loose along with bags apparently from the previous renters. We left it there till after pickup on Monday. Talked with the renters upstairs and they held on to it, using it as well and then put it out on Sunday night as directed. Parking for the Green Shutter is difficult as the restaurant open next door opens at 4:00 so if we tried to park there when we got back later, it was impossible, so had to park in back by the beach. Overall, our stay was comfortable and the weather really cooperated with sunshine everyday. Loved the location and the beauty of the beach. Will try to stay there again on our next visit.

GreenShutter in Suttons Bay was an excellent place to stay. Close to everything, restaurants, beach and shopping. The house was clean and had almost everything we needed. One thing missing was a spatula to flip our eggs. Had to use a wooden spoon. Road is a little noisy but worth the noise for the location. Had a wonderful time I would go back.

We were up North for hiking and a few meetings and the Green Shutter Cottage was the perfect place to stay. Centrally located, right across the street from Martha's Leelanau Table (YUM!!). Such a cute house, very comfy and homey. The kitchen is very well stocked and we spent 2 nights around the table talking about our day and life. The beds are super comfy and the home was super quiet. We were able to step out the front door and walk to the Stites preservere (part of the Leelanau Conservancy) a great little hike that gets your blood pumping! Would happily return to the Green Shutter Cottage! Oh when we hadn't received our checkin code - I called but was worried because, still winter, they may not answer. They did within 5 minutes and when we lost our connection a text with the code came right through! Great Great Customer Service

We have stayed at this property before and love the location. There is plenty of room, the washer and dryer are very helpful. Sutton's Bay was a little bit busier than we expected and the restaurant next door was loud until 10pm but we loved the beach and the playground. The bike trail is in the backyard!

Loved our stay here. Place is in a great location, you can walk everywhere. The places was super clean, very cute, updated appliances, & more. Just a beautiful place to stay, we will be back again. There we 2 of us couples that stayed for a weekend in Feb. to do some snowshoeing & wine tasting, we enjoyed the fireplace in the does not throw off much heat but it gives that cozy feel as you sit by the fire & sip your wine. Both of us couples are in our mid 50's & pretty fit, so we enjoyed walking all over downtown. Ate one night at the restaurant next door, also like VI Grill, Streetside Grille, Boone's & Hop Lot brewing Co. all are within walking distance, except maybe Hop Lot. Northern Latitudes Distillery is another favorite of ours. Recommend snowshoeing the trails at Black Star Farms. If you stay in the summer, you just walk to the back of the house right to the beach, Im sure this would be a great place to stay in the summer.I can not say enough about this places & our stay here, it was one of the best places we have stayed.Communication & getting in to the place on arrival was great, no issues.

Green Shutter Cottage - January 2020

We stayed in winter and you could hear the traffic on the road, probably would not stay here in summer months, when traffic is much heavier, for that reason. Also was very cold in the front bedroom and front part of house, even though we did turn up heat and have fireplace on. You could feel the drop in temperature immediately when passing from kitchen to living room area. Could use additional blankets in the winter months, beds only had top sheet and a light bedspread, was very cold, particularly in front bedroom, my wife actually ended up sleeping with her coat on. Very clean and well maintained property, great location for our planned activities that weekend in the peninsula. Rental agency was excellent, called us en route to warn us of a winter advisory for the area, offering to fully reimburse us if we decided to cancel last minute. We still went, winter weather wasn't that bad, we enjoyed the snow and had a great weekend! I would recommend bringing extra blankets if you are staying here in winter months.

I would note that the house is close to the road which is great for convenience to downtown, but the road noise is very noticeable inside particularly at night. We also had a few dishes in the kitchen that were put away but had not been cleaned. Aside from that, it is a very welcoming place and was the perfect little weekend home.

This little cottage was an excellent place to stay. We were little confused on where we could park at first, since there was a truck in the driveway blocking any parking, and there was only one spot on the road right in front the cottage, so we first parked in the back parking lot, but that was quite a ways to carry everything to the front. But finally another spot on the road opened up. When I asked about the wood for the fireplace the person I had spoken to about this place mentioned that there were places in town to buy wood, glad we didn't do that before we checked out the place, it was a GAS fireplace! and we had to figure out how to start it because the directions on the mantel didn't work. We each had our bedrooms, beds very comfy, but would have liked a wall mirror or door mirror in each, as the one bathroom is very small. There is very nice flat screen tvs in each bedroom, but the remotes didn't have batteries in some of them. But it was very clean, comfortable, quiet and right next to a great place to eat. I would stay here again.

Wine weekend

We have stayed at this cottage several times now and always enjoy the proximity to wineries, restaurants, and shops.The cottage itself is very comfortable and has everything a group of people would need for a weekend get away. Our only concerns are the condition of the oven door which catches when you open and close it, resulting in a loud banging noise. Also, the restaurant next door seems to get a delivery of firewood on Sunday mornings, which is stored adjacent to the cottage. This delivery is very loud and occurs early in the morning. Otherwise this is a great home in an awesome location.

Wish the people staying in the unit above us weren't so loud, but thaf's what you get for a multi-unit rental home. Not only is this cottage absolutely adorable but it was spotless and it is apparent that the owners take excellent care of it. I was concerned with renting a cottage instead of staying at a hotel but this cottage gave me the hotel feel. Also this cottage is right in the middle of a "town center" filled with restaurants and shops which was perfect for us. Also I believe the descriptions states this is a 5 minute walk to the lake but I think it is much closer than that as it basically separated from the house by a small parking lot. The only things I did not like are that there isn't any wifi available when it seems as though all of the other place around the cottage have wifi. Also I think the property could use a safe. I would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at many properties in the Traverse City area and, overall, this property met my expectations. It was tastefully decorated and we felt the kitchen was well equipped. We were aware that we were given starter coffee, toilet paper, and paper towel so we brought some extra from home. The unit was right in downtown and close to everything in Sutton's Bay. Only a few drawbacks of this rental. 1) I felt the shower floor could have been cleaned a little better. The grout was a little gross. 2) it's a multi-unit rental, like a duplex. And the walls are quite thin. 3) one extra mirror would have been helpful. 4) the street out front can be a little noisy, but for our purposes for the weekend it was not an issue. None of these small drawbacks were reason to not return. It was a great location and served its purpose well. We would consider staying here again.

Beautiful old home that has been restored for modern comfort. Truly lovely decorated and spotless. Sad the bushes out front cover the "green shutters." Being right on the main street had it's pros and cons - walking to stores and eateries was wonderful (especially with rainy weather) but the noise at night from the traffic was surprising loud and kept us awake. There is also an eatery on the other side of the home that plays quite loud music starting in the morning till later at night too, which you could hear spite windows being closed in the side bedroom. Enjoyed staying in this home spite the noise!

The property is described accurately however, it was not there that was an issue. The place does not have any dressers and two of the bedrooms do not have closets. The managers were very helpful and offered to bring us a Hall Tree for our clothes, they also brought us a mirror. They were very expedient and kind at responding to complaints. The house was clean. I would recommend this to folks that were only going to stay for a weekend, however it is next door to an open patio sports bar.

Had a great location in the center of the city.Very close to a pub(next door) but it was usually an older crowd so noise was no problem.Only negative we had was when we were going to make dinner one night we found dishes, coffee mugs that looked like someone just put them back up in cupboard dirty. Looked like they had hot coco and a Italian dish. We eat out the rest of the time so we just washed them up and said someone was making a funny on the next occupants.Had plenty of rooms and well decorated.Dryer door wouldn't close so we couldn't wash towels.I'd rent again in a heartbeat though.Tim C

Great Location

We were in Sutton's Bay for a wedding and although we would have preferred to stay on the water, most places required a week's rental. Staying here was the perfect compromise. Even though we were not on the water, the location was fantastic in that it was right in town, with restaurants across the street and next door. The rental was very clean and comfortable. A couple of suggestions I would make, however, include clarifying the number of guests possible (we were told 5, but there is a trundle bed that would allow a sixth person). I would also recommend they install additional mirrors somewhere in the home... there is only one mirror located in the bathroom and with 5 or 6 people this is not enough. The only dirty items in the place were glasses in the kitchen cabinet. I believe this is due to the fact that they are in open cabinets, not getting used regularly and dust collects there. We also were unable to get the internet password to work at all during our stay. None of these small issues were deal breakers for us, and we were pleasantly surprised that the rental matched our expectations. We would definitely stay again.

We have spent the last 3 New Year's at this cottage, and this was by far the best yet. The house was decorated with red & green spotlights outside, which looked amazing and fun! Inside there was a small live pine tree decorated with tiny candy canes. There was a bottle of wine on the counter along with 2 packets of coffee from a local business. All of these touches were new and greatly appreciated! The best thing about this place is the location; there are several great restaurants and cute shops within a block. There was lots of beautiful snow, making the whole area a winter wonderland.Do keep in mind that there is an apartment upstairs, and this year, there was a family renting. We have never had people upstairs while we were there, so this was an adjustment.Overall, a great time as usual!
