Make a splash at this up north 1950s vintage cabin-style home on 100 feet of beautiful Long Lake. This vintage cottage has a great ‘step back in time’ feel, with many current updates to create an enjoyable stay. Splash Landing features 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms welcoming up to 8 guests at a time.
Walk into the open living/dining room area, with lovely hardwood floors and large windows with a view of the lake. Plenty of room for eating, curling up by the wood-burning fireplace, or watching a good movie. To the right, there are two bedrooms on the main floor. The first bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed, and the second has a queen bed. To the left of the living room, there is a large full kitchen with a dishwasher. The kitchen includes a breakfast area. A full bathroom with a shower/tub combo is to the left of the kitchen at the top of the steps leading to the basement.
The finished walk-out basement has plenty of room, a washer and dryer are under the stairs. There are two bedrooms on the basement level one with a queen bed; the second has a full bed. There is a sofa bed in the spacious lower-level family room. A full bath with a shower/tub combo is available on the lower level. This is a great location to enjoy some downtime, with lots of books to curl up with and board games too! And that is only the inside!
Outside, beautiful Long Lake is waiting. There are a few steps down to the lake from the patio area. Swimming, boating, and fishing are just outside the door! A swim platform and a row boat for some fishing fun are included! The lake has a nice sandy bottom for the little ones. A charcoal grill and picnic table are available for an outdoor meal, and the firepit makes a perfect evening gathering place. A Dock and boat mooring is available and will accommodate up to a 17’ boat 3000lbs max. Do not tie up to the dock, it is for loading and unloading only. (Dock not guaranteed after Labor Day Weekend or before June 15) there is a camera facing the dock for security purposes.
This home is in a great location, an easy drive to Traverse City and all it has to offer or head to Interlochen or Honor. This home is 30 miles from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Frog Pond Village is 6.5 miles away. Try South Long Lake Forest Natural Area for a family hike, it is less than five minutes away. Boone's Long Lake Inn is 1.5 miles down the road, orTC Latino Silver Lake has great Mexican food, just 4 miles away!

Splash Landing was a wonderful retreat. This was the third time my family has been here, and we love it each time. The cottage was very clean , the beds comfortable, the view beautiful. We loved our morning walks, hanging out by the water and having campfires. The only thing missing was a fully functional BBQ, as I had been told there would be a propane grill but instead there was a charcoal grill without any charcoal or lighting fluid, so make sure to bring your own supplies for a cookout. We instead cooked out inside and it was fine! The rowboat was fun to take out but the oars were super squeaky so those just need a little oil or something. Other than those two minor issues, it was a wonderful long weekend away from the hustle and bustle or everyday life. We will definitely be back again! It's out Up North Happy Place, for sure!

This was our first year staying at Splash Landing although we have stayed at several other houses on Long Lake. Absolutely love Long lake-crystal clear and perfect for swimming or floating. The dock provided good access to the water (although it would be nice if it was wider)The house was as advertised-an up north type cabin which perfectly fit our needs. The house did have a musty smell which decreased once the windows were open to let in the lake breeze. Fans were in every bedroom and there was s dehumidifier in the basement. Warning-the basement ceiling is low so if your tall you will have to duck! The house is well stocked and it's great there is a second refrigerator in the basement making it close access when spending time on the deck or in the water. Plenty of parking and a nice firepit. The grill could definitely be improved. Can't wait to return again next year

My 3 other friends and myself have done a girls weekend every summer for many years,we have tried to stay someplace different each time. We had a different cabin booked but at the last minute that cabin was canceled. But with the help of Lindsey at Up North Vacations we were able to get this cabin. Having 4 bedrooms and 2 baths was great for us 4 older gals. The cabin was very clean, well furnished,and super comfortable, we had a great view of the lake and had good enough weather we were able to do a little swimming. The water was crystal clear. There was also many places to explore. We did a little driving around to see the sites, we went to Sleeping Bear Dunes, checked out the town of Empire, and had great ice cream at Moomer's, did some shopping in Traverse City,we also went out to eat at a couple of restaurants, we would love to recommend Long Lake Inn the food was fabulous. We loved our stay and give this cabin a 5+ rating. I would also like to recommend Up North Vacations for your planning on your next vacation.

We rented this for a family (my wife a nd me, and our 3 kids and their spouses) so we needed a place with 4 bedrooms. The cottage was definitely “vintage” but we expected that. It was well equipped kitchen wise and had a nice layout. The upstairs bedrooms were fine and comfortable. However the downstairs bedrooms were not very clean and the beds were uncomfortable and needed replacement. So much so that a couple of the kids tried sleeping on the sofas. Also the basement shower wouldn’t drain well until my son pulled out a gob of hair out of it. The cottage could have used a better cleaning as there was dust, cob webs and dirt in corners.

We were 5 adults, ages 64 - 93 and two dogs. We came to show the two grandmas their first great grandchild. (Our son and his wife moved to the area.) the house was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to make and host a wonderful family dinner, overlooking a spectacular view of Long Lake. The sunsets were amazing. This was our second time using this house and we hope to use it again in the future. The home and the area are perfect. Also,not far from TC!

We have been holding Camp Doster with our adult children and grandkids for 15 years. Splash Landing easily accommodates all of us, our boat, our assembled toys and games. It is on a lovely, quiet setting and with a park nearby, allows the kids do their own thing. It's proximity to Traverse, groceries and restaurants makes for a well-rounded vacation. We love the up north feel of the house and the homage to H. Clarence Frye gives a true sense of family tradition. Hope to make it part of ours, as well!

Splash Landing is a perfect spot for a family or friend getaway. The home is closer to the lake than the pictures make it appear. The lake is clear, water was perfect, and we spent all day on the dock and in the water. The home is well equipped with cooking gear, tons of games, extra blankets, fans, etc. which made it all very comfortable. The basement is pretty musty and leaked during a big storm. The rental company was very professional and kind when we called about the leak and I was impressed with their quick service. The mustiness was only an issue as we had a couple asthmatics in the group and it triggered their allergies. Once you open up the windows and get the air flowing, it does improve. The house is lived in, which creates a very cozy feel that we enjoyed and it meant that not everything was up to date, one chair was broken, the house could have been cleaner. If you go expecting an older cabin, you'll be in good shape. The location is truly perfect and we would absolutely go back.

Met some guys for our annual ice fishing trip. The house was a perfect fit for us with room for all. The place was just as described and we all had a great time staying there. Access to the lake was a little tricky but it's winter in Michigan. We shoveled a little snow and cleared a good path to the lake. If only the fish would have been biting....

The lake home, Splash Landing on Long Lake), fit our needs very well for the weekend of 4 couples riding Iceman. It was clean, comfortable, with all of the necessary amenities (including TV and Internet). The only thing that we had to do was a bit of grocery shopping nearby, as there was no need to shop ahead and drag it with us.

My only suggestion is to put non slip strips and a hand bar in the bathtub/shower. Plus a few more kitchen towels and bath hand towels would have been nice. There was also an ant problem in kitchen. Other than that, we loved the house and the location. Would definitely rent it again.

Overall, we had a good stay. The house is in a good location for visiting the wineries, dunes, boating, hiking and Traverse City. It was clean. However, it is an old house and could use some updating (bathrooms especially) and minimally mattresses should be replaced. Staff was friendly and called before our stay to see if we had any questions. I would recommend providing guests with two keys - especially when multiple families are staying. Also, there is no air conditioning so be prepared when it is hot outside.

Location and outside is very nice with a good sized patio, fire pit and access to long lake. The main floor was nice. The downstairs had good space but the bathroom was not very nice. I would rent this property again.

We had a great time at Splash Landing. The cottage was big enough to accommodate 10 people. The boat lift was an added bonus--so easy to put our boat in and out of the water. There were a couple of things that were lacking--there were not enough forks for all 10 of us. We ended up having to buy some plastic forks to use. Also, there was only 1 dishcloth, dish towel and potholder. We needed more and ended up using some of the bath towels and cloths in the kitchen. The basement level had a few cobwebs in the corners, but nothing terrible. The basement is definitely not for tall people--watch your head going down the stairs! These were very minor issues and certainly would not deter us from staying at Splash Landing again.

With the dogs playing in the water, we had a door to the downstairs where they could dry off (no carpets down there!). We had enough yard for our dogs and kids to run around the house and play crazy tag. With all the windows by the dining room table, us adults could drink our coffee in peace while watching the kids collect rocks. It was a perfect first time cabin and we plan on visiting and using Visit Up North again. The women that answered the phone were friendly and helpful.

We stayed for a weekend in January. Location very good although check in at 4pm and out at 10am made for a very short stay. They sent email on Saturday night stating later checkout might be considered in off season if pre-arranged which could not be done at that point. Don't plan to use any dishes morning of checkout because they need to be washed and put away before you go. Fireplace was nice. Summer likely the best time to realize value for the price.

Everyone in our party loved the house! We had such a great time - enjoyed the natural setting and the charm of the house . Had room with the two floors and outdoor space to move about. Appreciated the nice kitchen for cooking and the kitchen dinette for lingering over morning coffee. Great views of the lake !

Overall, nice rustic house w/ some modern day amenities. Boat is 7ft long- we rented a 9.9hp motor ($250/week) in Traverse City and it worked well. Things that could improve: beach area/backyard groomed a little more. Water was high so no beach. Lots of large rocks and a few cinder blocks at shoreline. Would recommend a deck be added to main level so you can step out and enjoy the breeze & view more often/easily. 2 people in our group have a hard time going down stairs. If this house had a deck - we would rent it every year. Basement could be cleaned a little better- cobwebs vacuumed in corners. We had 11 people stay so every bed was filled comfortably. Lake water was very clean & sub had a nice wooded feel.

We had a few families staying in this cottage and found it to be very clean and overall had pretty much all of the amenities we needed. The water was great, warm and clear with a mostly sandy bottom and the cottage was spacious with good sized rooms and bathrooms. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit and the lake. Only things that could have made the stay perfect would be a wider dock (to sit on and relax) and a little more flat grass area for kids to play. Overall a great place to stay!

Up North Vacation Rentals was fabulous to work with. When we rent in the future, I will certainly use them again. The house we rented worked well for our group. We would go back again. There was more parking space available than we were originally told - we were told three cars - there was room for at least 6 vehicles or more. If you enjoy walking, this home is in a neighborhood with great walking opportunities. The house is very close to Boone's Long Lake Inn and a short drive to Traverse City.

A group of 11 stayed here for Labor Day weekend and all 11 of us could not have been happier staying at Splash Landing. There is enough room to spread out but small enough to keep everyone together. We loved the views from the Kitchen and Family Room and having internet and cable was perfect for the start of football season. Location is in a private association so be mindful of the neighbors. Loved having 4 bedrooms to sleep in and plenty of couch space. My group is already looking at next year for another place from ! BBQ's everynight, lounging in the lake and bonfires topped off this incredible weekend. A+++

This is an ideal cottage if you want to a classic northern Michigan vacation experience. This property is private and wooded without being isolated. The lake area off the dock has great swimming for young and older family members. (The steps down to the lake may pose a problem for some individuals.) The boat lift included for use with your own boat is great as well. We found the lower level ideal for our teenagers as it provided them with their own living area and separate sleeping space. The lower level also has its own entrance/exit and full bath which added to its convenience. (Individuals taller than six feet will need to pay attention to ceiling levels in certain places in this area). All four bedrooms are private comfortable and we appreciated the clean white sheets and towels. The open living area and spacious kitchen easily accomodated our family of seven.

Had a mixed group of a few couples and a few singles for Labor Day weekend. The staff = 100% amazing, professional, and helpful for all of our questions. The property itself has a great cabin feel and was clean upon arrival. The only thing was that we missed trash day on Friday (since we arrived Friday) and needed more than the one can. Otherwise everything was presented well and accurately. We would come back again!!

Great location, wonderful lake. This property has a real charm. We brought our kayaks and found exploring the islands to be great fun. Unfortunately, the lower level is very much a basement and very much in need of dehumidification. Mold sensitivities could be a problem.

overall, it was a good place to stay. Conveniently located, great location on Long Lake. Very kid friendly. The only downside was the basement bedrooms were a little musty.
