Imagine peaceful mornings on the deck overlooking the lake, quiet walks on gently winding roads, dinner outside with family, or tons of fun playing on Long Lake. This and much more await at this retreat on the all-sports Long Lake. Only 8 miles from downtown Traverse City, this 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home welcomes up to 6 guests at a time.

Upstairs you will find 2 bedrooms with queen beds and a full bathroom. Stylish bamboo covers floors throughout the upper level. Come down the spiral staircase into an open-concept sleeping area. Down the hall is the Master bedroom with an ensuite full bathroom featuring a queen bed. Concrete floors through the lower levels of the home cool in the summer and have radiant heat for the winter months. Down the hall is the sunken full kitchen with a dishwasher and dining area. and a half bath nearby. A large fireplace completes the welcome. Another few steps down leads to the living room area, with cable TV and DVD player. Windows and decks everywhere make this a fun place to stay, with plenty of views from inside and out.

Outdoors offers gorgeous lake views from the deck, patio, and grilling area. Charcoal and gas grills are provided. Wander down to the deck overlooking the water, a beautiful view no matter what time of day! Continue down the steps to the water below to find a sandy-bottomed lake perfect for swimming, fishing, or anything you want! Dock provided, not guaranteed after Labor Day or before June 15.

Don’t feel like cooking? Why not try Boone’s Long Lake Inn, just 1 mile down the road, or the Hofbrau Steak House, just 6 miles away. In the mood for some Mexican food? Try out Taqueria TC Latino, just 4 miles away! Want something sweet? Stop by Bud’s for iced coffee or a sweet treat, only 6 miles away. Need some entertainment? Stop by the Interlochen Arts Academy (7 Miles) and catch a show or the State Theatre in Traverse City (9 Miles) for a movie! Take a day trip to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park (30 miles); Watercraft rentals are available nearby. Whether it’s a day on the water or a day of adventure, there is something to do for everyone!

My only negative opinion of our rental is the master bedroom mattress was extremely uncomfortable. The mattress sunk in the middle and the sheets did not fit.

Our plan was to enjoy the week together on Long Lake and use our boat as much as possible. The grandkids loved being in the lake every day. It is a Sandy bottom lake the beach was very small for the toddlers to play on.There are many stairs in the house and stairs to the lake. The house exterior and the decking areas need some maintenance work. The kitchen area was well stocked with pots and pans and cooking utensils. We would have liked a larger open area for eating meals together. We enjoyed the large deck with a clear patio glass for looking at the beautiful lake and gave the grandkids an area to play together . Limited parking was a problem with extended family visiting.

The house was wonderful, a beautiful view of the lake. The upstairs balcony also a great place to view the stars at night. The only disappointment (and it was a significant one), the homeowner had pulled the dock prior to our stay so we were unable to use our boat. I suggest if you list the dock as an amenity, you should mention the weeks the dock would be available. The two weeks we were there were well within the boating season.

Very clean modern home on the lake. My family spent the weekend at Northern Comfort and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets on the deck. Perfect location for a morning or evening paddle. The house is well appointed with kitchen utensils and we found all of the beds and furniture to be comfortable. There are a lot of stairs inside and outside so be mindful of small children and the elderly. I would recommend this property to friends and family.

Would not go with children, this is dangerous. Also difficult to go to the upstairs two bedrooms with luggage as the staircase is winding and narrow. "Visit Up North" is a great site to use to rent a house. Would use rental site again, just not this house because of the safety concerns. NO RAILINGS

We knew the weather was a gamble when we chose to visit Michigan in April, but we got lucky with the onset of spring (most sunny, 70 degree days). Even if it had been rainy, though, we would have had a good time in this place. The view of the lake was lovely. We were just the right amount off the beaten path and close enough to anywhere we wanted to go. The house was unconventional in a charming way; there are many small levels and curving stairs, so probably not the place for anyone with mobility issues. My mother-in-law wouldn't have been able to navigate it, for example, and if our kids had still been small, it would have also made me nervous. Even a bit of a challenge bringing in luggage and groceries. It was perfect for two adults, two teens, and a lab, though; we would stay here again!

We had a little delay with checking in, but we were understanding of circumstance, and they did allow us to use the bathroom and back deck while we waited for inside cleaning to finish, which is probably the first place we would have gone anyways. Overall I would definitely stay here again, but probably only in the warm summer months. We could not figure out how to turn the heat on... and we definitely needed heat the entire week! Maybe in the summer, heat is no concern (we noticed a lot of fans available), but during our stay it was unseasonably cold and rainy (50's-60's), and we were just chilled constantly... it didn't help that during the pandemic we didn't really have many options to warm up indoors elsewhere, so it was unfortunate we couldn't even be in the house comfortably. I assume management just hadn't activated the heating system yet? I would have called but kept hoping the forecast would warm up like predicted, just wasn't worth it by mid-week.

Vacation over labor day week

Not a fan of the house. Noise carries throughout the house so someone watching TV in the living room can be heard in the upstairs bedrooms. Do something to take the squeak out of the stairs when someone is walking on them. Get a new fire pit cause the one you have is rusting out badly. Get a real matt for the front door so you wipe the dirt off your shoes. Finally cut down the tree close to the circular drive so a car with a boat trailer can get through.

There was a cracked window (above deck access door) from water damage. This window should be replaced so clients don't have to worry about being accused of damaging it.

Family trip; Traverse City 2017

This is a very unique home with several levels, eventually taking you down to the lakefront. We found this place in excellent shape and very clean. Lockbox access was easy and the managing agent was quick to follow up on our arrival and if we had any questions or issues. The driveway is larger than I expected and parking for our four vehicles was not an issue. With the four different levels and two deck levels, there was never a feeling of overcrowding. With the number of levels, there are a lot of stairs which may not be suitable for elderly, small children or the handicapped. Stairs to the upper two bedrooms is a spiral staircase. The kitchen was well equipped. Wi-Fi is adequate, but there are certain areas within the house that has no reception. Overall, we were very please with this property.

Lots of room to move at Northern Comfort 2

We rented Northern Comfort 2 for a long weekend up north. My older sister lives in the area, and me, my little sister and our families wanted one place to stay together. This "cabin" (it's much bigger and nicer than the word cabin implies) had plenty of room (and bathrooms!) for all of us. Our weekend was very busy, and it was great to have a place to come home to. We cooked several meals, went for walks down to the lake and relaxed by the fire in the kitchen. It was a great weekend.

This house was very spacious, clean and with amenities. The location was awesome to be right on the lake with walkout to the water. A very unique layout. Very warm in the winter.

Beautiful Views, Unique Home

Overall good experience, the lake view was beautiful and the home slept 8 couples comfortably. The area is amazing, the back patio/deck is wonderful, there is direct dock access as well. The home architecture is unique - great for a fun vacation home. However, there are a couple quirky layout details. 2 Bedrooms are located upstairs, walking up a narrow spiral staircase. The queen/twin trundle area is not in a private bedroom, its secluded but right in the walking path to go upstairs. The linens/bedding were clean and rooms were comfortable. There are 2 full baths, but one is located in the master suite - which makes it a bit awkward to share. There is only 1 half bath, but its located in the kitchen. All towels/baths were clean as well. Regardless of quirks, the house worked out fine for our group of friends. The negatives - the oven was broken, some kitchen basics weren't available (like saran wrap, garbage bags, small number of coffee cups), and the concrete floors were not swept/mopped.

long lake review

my family had a great time, the home was very nice and clean, there was some signs of wear but overall nice . there was a private boat launch a few doors down for folks on the peninsula but we had no means of accessing unfortunately so we had to drive 2 miles to an other launch, not a big issue but it would have been nice had we had access. On a lighter side you had better hope the zika virus never goes North as the mosquitoes are a plenty on long lake. I do feel rentals should be from noon to noon however

I am glad you had a nice vacation. The boat launch is private and therefore guests of the owners can not use. As far as being noon to noon we do need time to clean the homes , you are welcome to ask for a late check in or check out and if there is not someone leaving or coming it should be no problem.

We were very happy with both the home and the correspondence with the staff. The house was eclectic and reminds us of a frank Lloyd wright house. Could of used a deep cleaning and kinda kitchen kinda needs updating but Overall it is fine.

3 generation get together

The family had a great time together. Our party included two children 21/2yr and 5yr. They managed the stairs. There are 56 stairs from the water to the upper bedrooms, so not the place for someone with disabilities. Three bedrooms have doors, the 4th is a sleeping area, semi-private with a folding screen. The house would benefit from some TLC especially the kitchen appliances. There is no beach to speak of but the water is very shallow and great for floating around and good for the little ones in our party. There is a dock and moorings available and we rented a pontoon boat and visited the town beaches and the islands in the lake. A really gorgeous lake,would go back.

Winter Wonderland

We stayed here over the New Years week. It was our first time in the Traverse City area during Winter. The House is wonderful! The radiant heated floors were amazing during this time of year. The temperature averaged between 3-10 degrees but as soon as you walked into the house it felt wonderful. The location was convenient to downtown Traverse City and the great dining and shopping. Overall, we had a great time and the house worked out wonderfully.
