How to watch birds Northern Michigan, while you Visit Up North Suttons Bay, Omena, Northport, Elk Rapids

Birders (also called bird watchers) form a substantial part of those who have a keen interest in Michigan’s wildlife. Birding is the number one sport in the United States. According to US Fish and Wildlife there are currently 51.3 million birders and that number continues to grow. So how do you become a “birder”? To begin birding, all you will need are three items:a field guide, binoculars and a notebook. Be patient and quiet-birds are very skittish. In Northern Michigan you can find birds in  parks www.theconservancy.com/kehl-lake.php ,nature centers or along country roads, in the trees and on the ground and everywhere in between.Morning is the best time to spot birds. Pack up your gear and make it a day. For more information on bird watching check out www.audubon.org
