On Saturday, May 17th from 11:00 to 3:00, Enerdyne (223 St. Joseph in Suttons Bay) will present Flower Fairy Fantasy--the annual spring family event featuring fairies of legends and lore and their connections with flowers and other plants.
Children (and adults!) can build fairy houses, plant a tiny fairy garden, and do other crafts. There is a charge for materials for planting a fairy garden but all other activities are free.
New this year, participants will create colorful Flat Fairies that can easily travel the world in backpacks, suitcases, or envelopes when they visit well- or less-known landmarks. (We’d love to see photos or receive email images of the fairies at their destinations.)
Visitors can anticipate free drawings and activities at the popular event and are encouraged to wear their favorite fairy finery.
And especially for adults–Melissa from Adelade’s coffee shop in Suttons Bay will bring living coffee trees and offer fairy-sized cuppings of coffee from Higher Grounds--her Free Trade coffee supplier. The shade of the rainforest canopy provides ideal conditions for production of high quality coffee beans. This also helps ensure preservation of the diverse rainforest habitat by discouraging irresponsible clear cutting for conventional coffee plantations. (We think that rainforest fairies appreciate such efforts too.)
