Old Mission Peninsula included in “Top 10 for ‘10″ Travel Destinations Posted: 1/8/2010 A Grand Traverse County gem is being recognized as one of the top travel destinations in the world. The Chicago Sun-Times recently named Old Mission Peninsula as one of the “Top 10 for ‘10″ to visit. The article calls it the “Nearby Napa”. The reporter notes the area is spectacular to take a bike ride from vineyard to vineyard. “(Old Mission Peninsula is) up there with Bavaria in Germany and Hong Kong and South Korea, so it’s really a recognition off a world class destination, which, of course, we are,” Marie-Chantal Dalese, marketing director for Chateau Chantal, said. The Chicago Sun-Times also ran an article this summer, calling the area “Michigan’s Grape Escape” for cyclists to visit the vineyards and wineries.

Golfweek Magazine has chosen Leelanau Peninsula’s Manitou Passage Golf Club as one of its “Best New Courses” of 2010. Golfweek’s course evaluators grade courses all over the country on a 10-point scale to identify the country’s finest golf courses. Raters take into account factors such as routing of the course, feature shaping, greens, variety and memorable holes, conditioning, maintenance, and landscape management. The accolade makes Manitou Passage Golf Club one of the top destination courses in northern Michigan. The course joins Harbor Shores Golf Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus, as one of the two Michigan courses to make Golfweek’s list for “Best New Courses.”

Manitou Passage is in the heart of Leelanau County. We have several rentals that are less than 3 miles from this great course. The snow is on its way, but how about planning your Spring or Summer golf getaway?
